María José de la Macorra
María José de la Macorra is a mexican artist, graduated from the National School of Plastic Arts of the Mexico’s National University. Throughout her career she has exhibited in important cultural spaces such as Jumex Museum (2011) and Tokyo Wonder Site Foundation (2006). The work of María José de la Macorra has been presented around Mexico and in countries like China, Japan and Canada, and is part of important collections such as the FEMSA Collection in Mexico.
Her work creates a dialogue between the inner and the outside world. María José de la Macorra finds great inspiration in organic elements and understands maps as imperfect copies of reality and that is what makes them wonderful. Cartography allows her to interpret and build reality.
