Miguel Castro Leñero
Miguel Castro Leñero was born in Mexico City in 1956. He attended the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving “La Esmeralda”. He has exhibited individually and collectively in museums and galleries around the world. His work is part of important collections in Mexico and abroad. In 1982 and 1986 his work was awarded at the Rufino Tamayo Painting Biennial.
In his work, Miguel uses simple shapes, signs and symbols that are part of our daily life, such as houses, swings, animals, trees and clouds. He deconstructs this elements giving them a whole new meaning. The streets are an important influence in his work; he understands the city as an image laboratory of paradoxical and poetic images.
Miguel Castro Leñero is an artist who turns everyday objects into unique figures; through his work, he analyzes contemporary society and environment.
